Sketch contains various tools that we use to create things. The most commonly used tool is the pencil tool, followed by the push and pull tool.

There are three axes in the program. The x-axis is red, the y-axis is blue, and the z-axis is red. Guess which one is your ‘up’, I chose blue (y). These axes are really helpful for shaping.

The push and pull tool can be used again to create gaps in the wall. First we draw a window line on the wall with the pencil tool or the rectangle tool, then we use the push tool to push this plane into the wall with the thickness of the wall. So it cuts a perfect gap in the wall.

Then using the push tool, I pushed the wall exactly 0.22m (this is the thickness of the wall).
I can make my own doors, windows and doors, but being a bit lazy, I went to the Sketchup 3D warehouse where I downloaded some free models. So you can download a window or door that someone made!
I just type in the door, and I can choose from different doors that people have created and shared. Please check the terms of use before planning to download any model.
So I loaded the doors and windows of my choice and put them in place. This is where the motion tool is used. And it helps to hold the end of each object, making it easier to place it exactly where you want it. If the doors and windows don’t fit, you can use the Scale Tool (S) as a shortcut to resize them to the desired size.
I also used the push and pull tool to create the ladder. Having said that everything can be done from scratch, I decided to make my own ladder. What I need to do is draw each rectangle (step size) to a specific height.
An interesting shortcut is the clone tool. To make copies of anything you need to hold ctrl and then drag.
You can clone the entire floor plan. All you have to do is select the floor and press ctrl and a little plus sign will appear indicating what is selected will be moved.

Hold down the Ctrl key and drag the floor you want to clone, then drop that floor on top of the first floor.
This is the most exciting part of creating a floor plan. 3D has a lot of gear in stock. Once you’ve found the right piece of furniture you’re looking for, place the move tool where you want it. Better yet, you can customize the hardware to your liking. Don’t like the color? You can always use the material tool to change the color or texture. You can even remove certain parts of the device, change its size, rotation, break it into smaller parts, etc.
I also added a second floor view. The more hardware you add, the heavier the Sketch file will be. So, make sure you download light files from the 3D warehouse, because sketching is a bit more difficult and can be slow if the file is heavy.
As I added furniture to each room, I also changed the color of the walls and used different materials for the floor (carpet, tile, wood planks).

In other floor plan software, designs start as plans and then have options to view them in 3D. In Sketch, you work in 3D while creating a design.
You can use the same option to view 2D elevation. Sketch’s section plane tool can be used to cut sections from anywhere. Section plane and parallel projection tools can be used to obtain elevation plans and sections.
The sketch has different viewing angles, and the main view we model is in 3D. We can rotate the model and zoom easily with the mouse.
The concept of the scene in the sketch is interesting. When using Sketch I noticed that the angle I could see my model was 30 degrees. However, the human eye sees things differently. Hence, perspective is different from perspective.
