4. Treasure Hunt: Do a treasure hunt around the house (or yard). Fill the plastic Easter eggs (yes, I know it’s early) with coins, rocks (or whatever else you can get 40-50 of) and hide it all. Then let everyone go find out. Make creative gifts to give to each child based on how many they find. By the way, when it comes to rewards, I find things like “alone time”, doing what your child wants to do is better than any material reward.
5. Bake: Muffins are a fun and easy cooking project for kids. 6. Light Brite: Gemma’s friend gave her one, and it’s one of her favorite activities to do alone or with anyone in our family. My husband and I love it because it brings back so many childhood memories!

7. Clothes: Whether you use pretend clothes (fairy tale, cowboy costumes, etc.) or let the kids raid mom and dad’s closets, it’s a great idea.

9. Read: No explanation needed. Especially stimulating for young children, but perfect for any age. If you need options, most libraries have free digital rentals. Some even have virtual story times to set up, so check out what they have to offer. 10. Make your own picture book: Fold several sheets of paper in half widthwise and staple the folds to make a book. After that, the options are limitless. You can make one that has finger-painted characters (press your fingertip onto an ink pad or digit paint, press down on the page, then draw a face and body with a pencil) or more traditionally with colored pencils and markers. Personal Treasure Boxes: Collect empty shoe boxes (any small sized box will work) around your house and use glue, tape, feathers, rocks, crayons, and other arts and crafts materials you have so that everyone can do something with personality. You can also decorate the interior and then use it to store special gifts, treasures or other useful special items.

15. DIY Karaoke: While a karaoke machine would be great to have now, you don’t need one to have the experience at home. This activity can be used with any toy, just let your child’s imagination run wild. If you really like this idea, try a stop motion video, which takes time for the kids (yay!) and produces amazing results. 24. Throw a fancy tea party: What’s better than an old fashioned tea party? Get out the paper and crayons, make a guest list (don’t forget to invite your favorite stuffed animal or toy), and have the kids make formal invitations to send out to guests. Then prepare a tea party, dress up and enjoy. While tea and snacks are the norm, small authentic sandwiches and pastries are always a plus!
