The budget was 40-60k and the committee consisted of research, design, FF&E, project management and final design – the full turnkey experience.
The property is located in a brand new luxury apartment opposite the US Embassy in Battersea, London. The client presented us with details of the empty white shell he had bought off-plan and asked us to come to the showroom he had visited to deliver ‘something like this hotel in New York’.
It’s probably a good thing the client didn’t like the color or pattern, as we managed to blur the boundaries of this mostly open space. This was achieved by featuring uniquely engineered wood floors and subtly textured wallpaper by Arte and Abbot & Boyd. The wallpaper in the space brought interest and depth to what could have been a flat, neutral design and gave the space a more luxurious look.
The client also requested a luxurious dining room, including a corner chandelier near the kitchen. The space wasn’t huge, but we got a transparent dining table and high quality chairs. The chandelier was even trickier as there are recessed fixtures (like many new builds) and most chandeliers would be too ornate or classic for this modern apartment. So we had an electrician cut through the newly finished ceiling and install a striking, minimalist Swarovski ‘Ring’ chandelier. Textured walls, dining set and lighting effects are attractive and suit the space.
A Perfect Match … To Furnish A Luxury Apartment In Battersea
For the bedroom we bought an oversized Kartel floor level mirror to make the room look bigger. We also installed a super king size bed that took up most of the room, a cozy feel and a perfect place to watch the equally large wall mounted TV.
For the living room we decided on the larger white sofa, which stands out in similar colors and in the luxurious bedroom, dressed with custom-made curtains, gray sheer and velvet curtains, with a large wall of glass. Curtains are expertly installed with discretion, structural beads and recessed lighting are also installed.
The client was happy with the space and we were able to do more work for them. This project and our practice was a great application that I can attribute to the model for design.
