This time of year many of us moms worry about being bored. How are we going to entertain the kids for the next three months until school starts again? I think boredom is a good thing – it gives kids a chance to use their imagination.

Of course, boredom also tends to make my kids taunt, push, or otherwise fight, which is not good. Sometimes that’s what kids need to get out of the house, but other times I really want them to be able to enjoy themselves at home for a while, without losing a limb or breaking things. Today I’m sharing a list of 101 fun summer activities for kids that can be done at home: you’ll find fun games, easy crafts, and simple activities. You should not renew with the sisters and save your sanity in these days of laziness at home.

I searched my brain (and the internet) for as many fun things to do at home as I could find. Some of these summer activities will require a little help from parents, but others can be done with a little supervision. It was great to print out the list and hang it on the wall so my kids can look at it when the b-word is said. That way they can choose what interests them and even monitor the activity as they do it.

A pen and paper game for two players, Dots and Boxes starts with an empty grid. Players take turns placing a single horizontal or vertical line between two unrelated dots. The player who completes the fourth side of the 1×1 box scores one point and gets another point. Players write their initials in the box to indicate who completed each one. The drawing “board” can be any size. If you don’t have much time to play or are just learning to play, try a 2×2 box. A 5×5 box works well for experts. Dots and Boxes end when no lines are added. The winner is the player with the most boxes filled.

The goal of this game is to draw the perfect cootie before the other players. Give each player a piece of paper and a pen. Players rotate pieces to complete their mistakes. Each time, the number of dots on the die represents another part of the body:
Ask each player to roll the pieces and give the player with the longest roll first. The player should start by throwing one to the body and then to the head. If the player cannot raise the required number, he loses his position and must try again on the next round. Once the player has the body and head, the cootie parts can be added in any way the player wants. However, if a player spins the body of a cootie they already have, their turn is over. When the player correctly rolls the required number, they get a free roll to try to find another body. The winner of the game is the first person to finish their cootie.
A two-player word game, Hangman challenges players to complete the spelling of a word before completing a drawing. The first player thinks of a word or phrase and writes a blank for each letter under the picture of a tree with a blank string. The second player tries to write a word that measures the letters. Each wrong guess gives the player a guess for an added body part on the spinning rope – head, body, two arms, and two legs. If the player finishes before guessing the correct word or phrase, the player who picked the word wins. To beat your opponent, use short words or short words with repeated letters.
