Below that is a number labeled “Product ID”, which is different from the “Product Key” on the CD case. And a link labeled “Change Product Key”.
Based on this, I don’t understand the state of my system (activated? Will it definitely activate? Can’t activate?) or what I want Microsoft to do (click something? If so, what? Change the main product? ). What do they want from me?
If the product key is for OEM Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, that is, if everything is written above the product key on the sticker, then it should be activated with the disc you showed us.

(Although unlikely) you typed the key incorrectly when you tried to activate it. An 8 instead of a B, or an O instead of a 0, an H instead of a K, etc. I know it’s a long shot, but I had to include it.
I can positively say that I have successfully activated OEM installer versions of Windows (up to multiple Windows 7 installations) using OEM product keys. Most were fresh installs of Windows with OEM keys on the bottom of laptops, but desktops were also a mess. Back in the heady days of Windows XP, I was recycling keys from dead machines and reusing them.
From everything you describe; Vendor, disc, product key sticker… it should still be activated. However, you may need to use the phone’s activation system. Recently, I had to install Windows 7 on a desktop when I used an OEM key from a dead Toshiba.
If not, your next call should be to Amazon for another purchase of the same purchase. Yeah, I’ll take that as a bit of an exception. I will describe the problem to them and instead of asking for a refund, I will ask them to issue another one. This will increase the chances of sending them. They might tell you it’s software etc…just be clear and sure that Microsoft is repeatedly telling you that it’s not a valid product key.

From what I’ve been reading, there are a lot of people installing OEM builds of Windows 7 on Macs using Bootcamp… and it actually seems pretty popular. Most of the issues posted are about trying to use the same copy install and a VM install, in which case it needs to be activated twice. This isn’t the problem you’re facing, but I’m including this information because they have no problem with an OEM copy of Windows 7 activating first. They run into problems when they try to re-install it in a virtual machine (or parallels) and try to activate it a second time, which may (and may) appear as different hardware. His first activation (same as yours) works like a charm.
This is a gray area. Play on words. Amazon and others (such as Best Buy) sell these keys somewhat illegally. They are intended for manufacturers but are sold to home users. The keys should work, but Microsoft can’t be happy about that.
The boot camp issue may be slightly different. I used another emulator (parallels) and mine suddenly claimed not to be a valid key after a week of installation. Then I used a different one from my other PC and it finally shut down.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium and now I want to format my laptop and reinstall the same version of windows so before doing that I got a screenshot of this
When you reinstall Windows on a non-OEM machine, you’ll be prompted for a key. This key is written on the CoA sticker (which you said is too faint to read).
The product ID in the screenshot is derived from that key, and you might get lucky and convince a human operator to give you the correct key based on that.

I recently had the opportunity to reinstall my Win 7 computer from a boot DVD. I had no problem with the activation process and used the original product key (from the manufacturer’s sticker on my machine). So, I say yes information is enough.
The most reliable way is to find the Windows product key sticker. This is usually on the bottom of the laptop or on the top or back of the desktop. If you can’t find the sticker on your laptop, it might be under the battery.
As Tanner posted, programs like Magical Jelly Bean are also useful in this situation because it’s not just your Windows product key (programs like Adobe products, Microsoft Office, etc.).
